![]() My Buddy was a fairly large 21 inch doll that had the look of being around the age of a toddler. This article is all about My Buddy and if it is, or isn’t the inspiration behind Chucky from Child’s Play. It was a memorable toy form the ‘80s with a pretty memorable commercial and song to go with it. It was a doll and it’s intent was to teach boys about being caring for their friends. My Buddy was a straight up attempt at marketing a doll towards boys but there was nothing that was being over enhanced like giving him scars or a punching action. My Pet Monster was the attempt to crack back into that market by taking a stuffed animal and trying to “toughen” it by giving it fangs and handcuffs. Every kid has a stuffed animal at some point but boys tend to outgrow them. I wrote an article about My Pet Monster and how it was seen as a plush doll marketed towards boys. My Buddy was a success and wa considered as the inspiration behind Chucky from the Child’s Play movies. This was controversial as marketing a doll specifically to boys was seen as a big risk. My Buddy was a doll line made by Hasbro in 1985. Buddi Cloud and Buddi Phone are based on features that can connect to devices (such as MacBook, iPad, and TV for example).If you grew up in the ‘80s you know it was a time when manufacturers of dolls were trying to crossover and have them appeal to boys and vice versa.Buddi Video is based on surveillance footage apps (such as Ring, Blink, and Arlo for example).Buddi Drone is based on apps that can control drones.Buddi Art is based on Multiplayer and online drawing apps with friends.Buddi Game is based on Multiplayer apps and online games with friends.The six functions on the Buddi app seem to be a hodgepodge of various real life apps/features.Accessories for the Buddi 2 dolls include a Leprechaun costume, pirate costume, cowboy hat, diving helmet, and a Santa hat. The five different models advertised for the Buddi 2 dolls are not all shown, but include a red-haired Buddi, blonde-haired Buddi, black Buddi, and the Buddi Bear.However, Kaslan's founder Henry insists that the dolls will eventually be back on the market, as every child deserves a friend to the end. After Chucky's massacre, all Buddi 2 dolls are recalled for the time being. One Buddi Bear attempted to lunge at Andy, but was struck and decapitated by Falyn. ![]() ![]() The Bears begin attacking people and biting their throats. It is given a special midnight release at the Zed-Mart store, but during the launch Chucky takes control of all of the electronics, including the Buddi Bears. The newer model, the Buddi 2 doll, is more technologically advanced with AR integration and improved self-learning technology. The first generation Buddi doll came out a year prior, intended for children of all ages but mainly attracting younger children. Finally, Buddi comes pre-loaded with the ability to fluently comprehend and converse both in English and Spanish. ![]() The dolls are also able to record audio and video, and play these back through either their speakers or on phones and televisions. It is equipped with a voice recognition engine that is capable of identifying speech, and learns from both human interaction and through 20 sensors and cameras, which provide detailed real-time information about its environment. This allows the doll to become their best friend for life, and its state-of-the-art AI safeguards ensures that children will always be safe. When a Buddi doll is first activated, it scans the child to imprint on them. When controlling another device remotely, the Buddi's right index finger will light up. The app comes with six different selections to choose from, including playing video games, drawing, flying a Kaslan drone, watching a live video feed from the Buddi's perspective, connecting the doll to other Kaslan devices, and connecting the doll to on-phone Kaslan services. It is remote-controlled through the Buddi app on the user's smartphone. It is able to connect and control all Kaslan products and smart home devices. The Buddi doll uses advanced self-learning technology to constantly find new ways to entertain, and can adapt to the user's daily routine.
